Raiders To Release Ronald Curry

February 18, 2009

According to NFL Network's Adam Schefter, the Oakland Raiders have announced plans to release wide receiver Ronald Curry today. Curry's release will save the team $2.3 million against the salary cap. Curry, who's contract with the Raiders extended through 2011, was due a base salary of $3.5 million this year.

The Raiders selected Curry in the 7th round of the 2002 draft. Curry was plagued with injuries throughout his seven year tenure with the Oakland Raiders, and only played in 13 games during the 2008 season. His lackluster performance this past year resulted in only 19 receptions for 181 yards and only 2 touchdowns.
