January 19, 2009

Running Back Donald BrownOakland Raiders scout William Thomas was filing a report on running back Donald Brown of Connecticut while at the Philadelphia International Airport yesterday. Thomas, the Raiders' scout and former linebacker was waiting to board a plane to Mobile for the Senior Bowl. When asked about considering adding Brown to the Raiders' already deep backfield, Thomas replied, "He's a good player, but if we drafted another running back, people would laugh at us".

Donald Brown had a breakout junior campaign with the Huskies, leading the nation last year with 2,083 rushing yards. Following his Independence Bowl performance where he rushed for 261 yards and a touchdown vs Buffalo, he announced his entry into the NFL Draft. Brown is expected to be a second round pick in the April NFL Draft.

The Raiders current stable of running backs consists of: Justin Fargas, Darren McFadden and Michael Bush. It's uncertain whether they will retain all three for the upcoming season.
